It’s Canada Day. Geo and I thought we might go to a beach somewhere. After breakfast, we let that thought drift away. He went to Canadian Tire. I went for a walk.
I did not see the mama bear and her two cubs in the trees along the trail, but I heard about them from my friends and neighbours. I wish I’d seen the bears. I’m glad I didn’t.
I spent the afternoon reading my book with this view in front of me. I drowsed in my chair. I got up once an hour to move the blood from my butt to my extremities. Then I assumed this position once again.
My writing mind has turned to summer mush. This is my favourite hat.
I feel deeply grateful to be Canadian. I feel deeply grateful to live in a peaceful, community-minded country that values all life.
When my writing mind returns, as it usually does sometime in August, I may have more to say. If not, I will post more hat photos. Until then, I have turned off paid subscriptions. Stay safe and healthy everyone.
